The Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystem (RIE) in Berlin is the strategic research and innovation scheme by Siemens AG addressing today's challenges with future technologies in a collaborative way. The ecosystem is locally focused on research and innovation partners in Berlin and globally connected as one of the 16 Siemens RIEs worldwide. Technische Universität Berlin is the lead university of the Siemens RIE Berlin with the dedicated Siemens RIE office positioned at TU Berlin's chair for Strategic Leadership and Global Management. We are now hiring a new Siemens RIE Manager to foster the Berlin wide innovation cluster with Siemens AG, TU Berlin and Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science at its epicenter.

Working field:

  • Management of the strategic research and innovation partnership between TU Berlin and Siemens
  • Development of excellent collaborations in various research areas, such as: (additive) manufacturing, circular economy, connectivity, digital twins, loT, machine learning, new materials, robotics, (building) energy systems, smart grids and power electronics
  • Continuous alignment and joint development of the Siemens RIE Berlin between Siemens Technology and TU Berlin
  • Design and implementation of various matchmaking and ideation formats such as research & innovation workshops and conferences, idea competitions, bilateral visits or seed funds
  • Identifying current developments and continuously building and expanding a knowledge base on TU's research strengths
  • Communication of relevant content to TU Berlin, Siemens and the broader public through various channels
  • Developing and implementing activities for students, e.g. guest lectures, challenges in TUB seminars, idea competitions or other employer branding activities

There is an opportunity to pursue a PhD in strategy, international management, innovation and/or technology management. A doctoral focus could be, for example, on strategies for innovation ecosystems.

The position offers you the opportunity to gain management experience at the interface of academic work and business practice, and you will have the chance to contribute to the advancement of Berlin as a thriving hub for science and business. On both sides of the partnership, you will be working with a welcoming and enthusiastic team in a constructive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in a technical or management discipline (preferably Industrial Engineering)
  • High affinity towards new technologies and the ability to comprehend technical questions outside of the own domain
  • Interest in working at the interface of academia, industry & startups
  • High degree of motivation, communication, team as well as conflict management skills
  • Ability to work independently/effectively self-organize and collaborate across organizational and disciplinary boundaries.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of strategic and/or innovation management
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
  • Knowledge of the application and management of research projects, ideally with interfaces to industry, as well as of the organizational processes and structures within the TU Berlin is also desirable.
