The Branden­burg Uni­versity of Tech­no­logy (BTU) Cottbus-Sen­ften­berg is a young uni­versity that is act­ively help­ing to shape the struc­tural change in Lusa­tia to phase out lig­nite and is provid­ing sci­entific sup­port for trans­form­a­tion pro­cesses in many ways. In the com­ing dec­ades, the region will be one of the most excit­ing real labor­at­or­ies in Ger­many, from which ground­break­ing devel­op­ment impulses are to eman­ate. Employ­ment at the BTU there­fore prom­ises more than ever par­ti­cip­a­tion in devel­op­ment pro­cesses towards a sus­tain­able and cli­mate-friendly future.

PRO­FESS­OR­SHIP Busi­ness Tax­a­tion and Audit­ing (W3)

com­men­cing at the earli­est oppor­tun­ity.

Working field:

The incum­bent is expec­ted to con­duct teach­ing and research activ­it­ies in the field of busi­ness tax­a­tion and audit­ing.

The incum­bent’s tasks will include teach­ing activ­it­ies for mas­ter’s and bach­elor’s courses on busi­ness and tax law in cor­por­ate tax­a­tion with high prac­tical insights and a focus on account­ing under tax law and the basics of audit­ing.

It is expec­ted that teach­ing activ­it­ies include cur­rent audit­ing prac­tices as examples.

In addi­tion to that, the incum­bent’s research interests should open oppor­tun­it­ies for cooper­a­tion in at least one of the fac­ulty's research foci such as trans­form­a­tion, innov­a­tion, and start-ups. Also, the will­ing­ness to engage in net­work­ing within the uni­versity, espe­cially in the insti­tutes of Fac­ulty 5, as well as act­ive par­ti­cip­a­tion in the Centre for Legal and Admin­is­trat­ive Sci­ences is expec­ted.

Other duties res­ult from the require­ments set by § 42 Branden­bur­gisches Hoch­schul­ge­setz (Higher Edu­ca­tion Act of the State of Branden­burg - BbgHG) in con­junc­tion with § 3 BbgHG.


Moreover, the incum­bent shall have an in-depth know­ledge of inter­na­tional cor­por­ate tax­a­tion, inter­na­tional audit­ing stand­ards, and national and inter­na­tional audit­ing stand­ards.

Lec­tures are primar­ily to be held in Ger­man. The will­ing­ness to offer Eng­lish lan­guage courses and courses in the fac­ulty's con­tinu­ing edu­ca­tion pro­grams is required.

The incum­bent shall also con­trib­ute by pub­lish­ing in national and inter­na­tional journ­als and/or tax law com­ment­ar­ies rel­ev­ant to cor­por­ate tax­a­tion and audit­ing.

An exam­in­a­tion as a tax advisor or aud­itor and/or admis­sion as a law­yer is an asset, but not a pre­requis­ite.

Exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion of external fund­ing as well as in the imple­ment­a­tion of extern­ally fun­ded pro­jects is required. The research top­ics shall be rel­ev­ant for the DFG (Ger­man Research Found­a­tion) or com­par­able inter­na­tional research fund­ing insti­tu­tions.
